Dear Ms Tan

Proposal for Earth Day Celebrations

I am writing with regard to the Earth Day celebrations this coming March. As this celebration would last for one entire week in school, I suggest that classes of different levels would be assigned to different activities.

For the lower secondary classes, I would like to propose for a costume design competition where every class would come up with a design using only recycled or recyclable products. The teams would be judged based on how creative the costume is and how many types of recycled products are used. Classes will be penalised if they buy their materials. The Conservation Club would then source for attractive prizes to be awarded to the best design. In this way, the students would have a deeper understanding of how materials at home can be reused and recycled so that less resources would be wasted.

For the upper secondary classes, I would like to suggest that we could organise field trips to the New-water factory and one of the 'green' companies. At the New-water factory, students would get to see the treatment of water and understand how this system works. Others can visit the environmental-friendly companies, students would get to see how newspapers and cans drinks are recycled to make into new products to prevent wastage. Students will then come back to write about what they have learned learn from the field trip and give a class presentation.

I hope that you would seriously consider my suggestions and grant your approval. Thank you for your kind attention. I look forward to your favourable response.

Yours sincerely,
