Fellow committee members, we have been tasked to
organise a fund-raising event for the Red Cross Society. The
proceeds raised will help victims of the recent Thai tsuami. To that
end, the event should be enjoyable and also budget friendly. With
those objectives in mind, I propose that we have a public sale of
last year's students' art works.
So everyone knows, our school, the De
Lacelle, is a reputable art school and is ranked the top in our
country. By holding sale this event, it will attract art lovers to
come from all over the country to buy our art pieces. The art
pieces will be hung along the school corridors so that viewers can
appreciate the work of our students and select their preferred
pieces. They can then bid for the pieces at our auction. Students'
parents are also encouraged to buy the art pieces to support their
children in their pursuit of the arts. This will definitely give the
students a sense of recognition and achievement for their
accomplishment. It will also create greater buzz during the art
sales and promote art appreciation among the visitors.
Personally, I feel that this is a
better alternative as compared to the fun-and-food fair. This is
partly due to the disadvantages of running a fun and food fair which
involve a lot of planning such as for games and for food preparation.
Also, the students would also need to carry out a mass cleaning-up
which entails a lot of hassle as the school would end up being very
dirty. In contrast, by running a public art sale, beside the benefits mentioned earlier, all the spaces used
to store the art pieces will also be freed up to store the new works for the coming
year.
In view of the upcoming public art
sale, we will likely have a buzz of activites that will build up the
good name of our school and assist the victims of the tsunami in
Thailand at the same time. Let us put forth our best efforts to
contribute to the success of this fund-raising event.
