Introduction: The S.W.A.M.P technique (P4)

This is a burglary story for P4.  The table shows the students applying the S.W.A.M.P. technique to start their stories.

INTRODUCTION
First Sentence

Creak.  The rusty window squeaked noisily outside the house.  Strange!  My neighbour seldom opened it. 
OR 
“Remember to do your homework,” my mother’s instruction kept replaying in my mind.  I was alone at home…

Weather
Night (Show NOT tell)

The sky was dark with glimmering stars.  Yet, the air was hot and humid.  I was all alone…

Action
I was busy doing my homework when there was a strange sound.
OR
I was lying on my bed, tossing and turning.

Memories*
We were never close to our next-door neighbours until an incident took place two years ago.  It has changed our relationship for good.

(Senses + Show NOT tell)  DO NOT MENTION THE WORD “BEDROOM”.
All around me was darkness.  I was tossing and turning in bed. 


'Memories' technique is not suitable for students with weak tenses.
