PSLE: Ransacked House

The    'Ah Boy to Men' was so funny that I laughed throughout the whole movie,” Elle chatted enthusiastically to her best friend, Risa. The two girls were talking nineteen to a dozen, as Elle made her way home after the blockbuster ended.

As Elle neared her house, she noticed that the door was ajar. Perhaps, her absent-minded mother had forgotten to lock the door again. Elle told herself not to panic as she took a cautious peek into the living room. Her eyes widened in horror when she saw the house was in disarray. She was taken aback by the sight of overturned furniture and shards of shattered glasses strewn all over the ceramic floor.

Something is not right, Risa! I think my house has been broken into,” the terrified Elle whispered uneasily into the receiver.

Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of movement in the master bedroom and let out a gasp of shock. She spotted three girls rummaging through the drawers and the cupboard. Elle's mother was tied up with a thick rope and gagged with a towel. The quick-thinking Elle regained her composure and decided to take to her heels and escape first. However, as she was creeping out as quiet as a church mouse, she stepped on some broken glass and let out a gasp of pain. Oh no! Elle was discovered!
One of the girls pounced on her like a wild cat. She treated her like a punching bag and red welts appeared instantly. Elle was shocked to the core and shrieked hysterically in pain.

Just then, the leader of the trio whipped out a dagger and bellowed, “Shut up or you'd be dead!”

Shivers ran down Elle's spine and she froze in fear as she tried hard not to make a whimper.

Just then, wails of sirens reverberated through the air. The police had arrived! Without missing a beat, the three girls sprang into action and tried to make their escape hastily.. However, realization dawned on them that the police had cordoned off the entire place. The courageous police surrounded them with pistols in their hands. "Freeze!"  they hollered in unison.

There was no escape! They surrendered themselves without a fight and the police apprehended them with a slap of their handcuffs.

Elle's mother was rescued from the bedroom. They gave a brief statement to the police and later found out from them that it was Risa who had alerted the police. Elle heaved a sigh of relief and was full of gratitude towards her best friend. If it was not for her quick wits, the consequences could have been dire. Elle's mother also learnt an important lesson to be vigilant and lock the door at all times.
