PSLE: Confronted by bullies

“Quick, kill the zombies!” Vigas spoke in exhilarated voice as he gazed at the I-phone screen that Joshua was playing. “Kill them, kill them all!” Joshua muttered to himself as he was completely absorbed in his game as if in a trance.

Suddenly, shadows loomed over their heads. Vigas and Joshua swivelled around and saw the notorious bullies in the neighbourhood, Ming, Rong and Shian. “Hand over your I-phone right now,” Ming threatened malevolently. His face was flushed red and his eyes were like blazing hot coals on fire. His clenched knuckle was ready to throw a punch. He was flanked by his sidekicks, Shian and Rong. The trio glared at them fiercely.

Joshua approached Ming. He was one head shorter and his build was half of Joshua's size. Fear overwhelmed him as cold sweat dotted his forehead. However, he pretended to be brave and stepped forward saying, “What if I don't?”

“Then you will have this!” Ming flew his fist and punched his thin face which turned blue-black instantly. The mobile phone in his hand flew in the air and fell to the floor and the screen cracked into smithereens.

“My brand new I-phone! How dare you!” he cried. Shock overwhelmed him and a wave of indignant anger swept through him. Despite his short stature, he rushed forward and attacked them who were much bigger than him. Of course, he was overpowered easily. The trio started pouncing on him and treated him like a soccer bag. “Help...” he pleaded in a small, meek voice as he crouched down.

Not bearing to see Joshua in pain, Vigas grabbed Joshua's hand and broke through of the gang of bullies. Their legs took flight and they ran like there was no tomorrow.

“Get them!” Ming commanded and they ran like cheetahs chasing after their antelopes. The rascals were in hot pursuit. The duo was panting breathlessly while the trio was close behind. How could they possibly escape?

Just then, “crash!” Joshua and Vigas collided into two police officers on patrol. They quickly recounted what had happened to the flabbergasted officers. They immediately gave chase.

The wicked boys' hearts fell when they spied the men in blue. They stopped in their tracks, turned tail and fled. This time, the tables were turned on them. The pursuers were being pursued like the  foxes escaping from a pack of hounds.

Unlucky for them, they ran into a dead end and there was no escape. The policemen pulled out their guns and threatened to shoot if they resisted arrest. They hung their heads and gave themselves up. The police took down the statements of Vigas and Joshua before whisking the mean boys to the police station. The boys were elated by the turn of events. Indeed, justice finally prevailed.
